New Year Resolutions

HOW TO MAKE THOSE RESOLUTIONS STICK

Every one of us needs to either stop a bad habit or start a good habit and as such, each year we make resolutions. Unfortunately these resolutions are forgotten by March and we end up making the same resolutions year in year out.

What if there is something we could do to make sure that we fulfill these promises that we make to ourselves .A sense of direction, objectivity or perspective maybe? Here is a list of things that can help us keep our resolutions in 2014.

1.Think in terms of what you would like to add to your life not what is being taken away

This involves setting your mind to see the glass as half full and not half empty. Quitting a bad habit can be difficult, because we think in terms of what is being taken away instead of the benefits it will bring to the quality of your life.

2.Sense of accomplishment Vs. Sense of Failure

Have you ever failed in something you were so determined to accomplish? I bet the answer is yes because in life, failure is given. We live in a society that is obsessed with success and failure can seem to be the worst thing that can happen to a person. So each time you want to give up on a goal you set for yourself remember how heart sulking it is to fail and just how good it feels to succeed in something you set out to do.

3.Fluid Vs. Rigid

Rigid goals are usually harder to accomplish this is because they are not flexible .Fluid goals on the other hand are more attainable because they are flexible. One has to learn to take baby steps to achieve or meet your goals .Remember you cannot walk before you crawl and as much as you would want results soon be patient and committed towards your ultimate goal.

4.new year resolutions Do NOT Procrastinate

I hate that word, procrastination. They say that time waits for no man and it really doesn’t .So stop procrastinating. If you can make significant progress towards your goal today then do it TODAY not tomorrow. As Kenyans we are good at doing things last minute and it is usually a frustrating experience but we never learn .STOP procrastinating and you will have a greater chance of succeeding.

The key ingredient to succeeding is discipline .A wise man once said “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment”.

Make sure that your keep your word this year ,make those resolutions stick.
